The 5009/11coaster from Alessi was designed by Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass—who made so many simple, beautiful and innovative things for us because, as he said, if he stopped designing his “soul would get bored”. These mirror-polished stainless steel coasters for bottles and glasses are one of his most enduring creations, and they’ve been in production since 1979.
