Frédéric Malle’s Rose & Cuir is an emphatic reinterpretation of the romantic bloom, rose; pure, streamlined, uncompromisingly modern. The composition opens with timut pepper, geranium bourbon and a note of cassis for freshness and spice. Vetiver and cedar form an earthy bed of dark, mysterious leather with IsoButyl Quinoline at the centre – an intensely bitter molecule, used predominantly in daring perfumery of the Jazz Age. At once sparkling and sober, a recognisably floral composition is shadowed by a dramatic, yet controlled sensuality.
