The Diamond Lab makes its debut in the Wonder Room

Sparkling diamonds meet science and technology in the Wonder Room at Selfridges London, where you’ll find an immersive fine jewellery experience created by The Diamond Lab. Founded by fine jewellery expert Jamie Patel, The Diamond Lab’s mission is to help people understand the beauty and value of lab-grown diamonds – a more sustainable alternative to traditionally mined stones.

 

The Diamond Lab’s hero piece is the unisex Lab 100 bracelet, featuring a single diamond floating on a thread. “After growing a selection of diamonds in our lab, I decided to place each diamond onto 100% recycled fibre to give the illusion the diamonds were floating on your wrist ” Patel recalls. “I gifted these to a number of my existing fine jewellery clients to gauge their response - and they loved it. People kept calling me asking how they could buy more.” The bracelet is designed to represent the invisible threads that connect humans and nature – a theme that runs through the Wonder Room space. 

Alongside the Lab 100 bracelet, you can shop over 40 styles and more than 1000 loose stones, including an exclusive-to-Selfridges yellow diamond. There is a storytelling wall and VR experience to take you deeper into the world of lab-grown diamonds and learn about how these gemstones are made. The Diamond Lab is also offering made-to-order jewels, grown in the lab just for you. And you can customise your own pieces, selecting a stone, carat and precious metal to create a piece of jewellery in collaboration with their team of experts.

 

The experience in the Wonder Room has been designed to heighten your senses. Inside concrete and Jesmonite resin vitrines, you’ll find The Diamond Lab’s collection of lab-grown jewels. Bespoke fragrance by Somerset-based perfumier Ffern takes you on a scent journey through the natural world, and organic Telmont champagne and William Curley chocolates will be served.
