New thinkers

At Selfridges, we’re always championing makers who offer innovative solutions – especially when they’re earth-conscious and enhance our daily routine. From wonderful vegan home fragrances by Noble Isle to Neat and The Lab Co’s non-toxic, plant-based (and refillable) cleaning and laundry products, we can’t think of a better way to make our daily habits that bit kinder to the planet.

Built to last

We all have that special family heirloom we treasure (be it a piece of jewellery or a cashmere jumper), so choosing home accessories that have been crafted to last a lifetime is a no-brainer, really. Bringing pleasure to all current and future owners, brands like Montblanc (renowned for its time-enduring fountain pens), Villeroy & Boch (the Manufacture Rock porcelain tableware collection can be enjoyed by generations to come) and Tom Dixon (who wouldn’t love to have these cocktail glasses in the family?) create pieces that are durable and elegant. Win-win.

Anchored with a satisfyingly thick base reminiscent of game pucks used in ice hockey, Puck is a collection that’s resilient enough to survive in a professional cocktail environment.

Material matters

What’s better than snuggling up in a cosy blanket? Not much – but knowing that the blanket is made from reclaimed ocean plastic is certainly an added bonus for us. Beautiful objects that have been made from waste hold a special place in our hearts, which is why we’re celebrating the makers who work hard to create clever designs out of other people’s rubbish. Enter GoodWaste, which makes exclusive lamps using discarded materials from our Oxford Street store (how brilliant!), Maze, whose designs use as much recycled materials as possible, and HuskeeCup, whose reusable coffee cups are made from recycled coffee husks, no less.

We develop and improve existing products rather than create new ones. By perfecting piece by piece, we make designs that will last generations. We use honest manufacturing, recycled materials and a strict no-air-freight policy.

– Lotta De Visscher, Creative Director at MAZE

Made with care

We think careful craftsmanship is something worth celebrating, don’t you? Selecting beautifully handmade pieces that add a certain elegance and character to your home is not only a great talking point for when you have guests over, it also gives you something to enjoy every day. Who wouldn’t love this ‘LCW’ chair from Vitra and The Conran Shop (it was made to mark the 75th anniversary of the renowned Charles and Ray Eames Plywood Group chairs) in their homes, plus Easome’s pre-loved ceramic treasures to decorate those forgotten-about corners? And for a pop of colour? East London-based KANA’s ceramics are just what your empty windowsills have been waiting for.
