In the 19th century there were over 200 illicit stills in Scotland including Glenlivet. In 1822 King George IV arrived in Edinburgh for a royal visit and demanded a dram of Glenlivet, which he immediately drank and gave his royal approval to. This was the start of the whisky popularity that continues today. The 18 year old has ripe fruits and a lick of oak that gives it a dry finish.
