From its hillside home in the Scottish Highlands, The
GlenDronach Distillery has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years. In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice founded the distillery and produced his ‘Guid GlenDronach’ single malt. Down the years, the distillery he created has thrived under the stewardship of far-sighted investors like Walter Scott in 1847 and Captain Charles Grant in 1920. In 1968, GlenDronach was released as a single malt brand for the first time and the brand’s reputation grew from strength to strength. In recent years, Glendronach’s whiskies have become much sought after by those who love a rich, hedonistic and sherried style of
whisky, especially as they still carry an age statement unlike some other prominent distilleries! Matured in a combination of the finest Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for a minimum of 21 years, the ‘Parliament’ continues the great GlenDronach tradition of offering fruit-laden intensity in its single malts. This rich expression has been named ‘Parliament’ after the colony, or ‘parliament’, of rooks that have been nesting in the trees that overlook the GlenDronach distillery for almost 200 years. Incredibly rich, this shows flavours of candied orange, toasty oak, blackberries, and ripe plums, alongside notes of chocolate, allspice and nutmeg. Truly superb whisky.
