Advanced optical engineering and precision manufacturing deliver prime-like performance across the zoom range. The lens incorporates large elements, including three XA (extreme aspherical) components made with Sony’s proprietary technology, ensuring high resolution from edge to edge—even at F2. A floating focus mechanism maintains sharpness with close focusing capabilities down to 0.38 m (1.25 ft) throughout the zoom range.

Designed for stunning visual impact, the constant F2 aperture and G Master optics produce smooth, beautifully rendered bokeh with excellent depth and dimensionality.
