Blending warm sandalwood and spicy cardamom, the gorgeously balmy scent has a hit of bergamot that adds a freshness to an otherwise traditional aromatic fragrance. It’s a sensual, grounding scent that only last week prompted a colleague to run after me following a meeting to ask, ‘Ooh, what perfume you wearing?’. “Memo Paris, a collection of refillable fragrances inspired by the places founders Clara and John Molloy have visited, is a brand that’s been on my wish list for some time. Two of the scents were developed exclusively for Selfridges. Honey Dragon is a rich, warm fragrance that brings together spicy black pepper, cinnamon and a boozy base of vanilla bourbon absolut. “What I love about Maison Crivelli fragrances is how they take an ingredient you might recognise and completely turn it on its head. In this case, it’s oud. There’s an explosion of fruit, in particular passion fruit, that brings a sweet, juicy and almost mischievous side to the heavy dry down you’d expect from oud. It makes you think of walking through a market in Marrekesh on a hot day, surrounded by fresh fruit, spices, incense and leather.” – Laurie Field

“Inspired by non-stop city life, Fragrance legend Mr Kurkdjian developed 724 to be the scent you could wear at any time, on any day (hence the name: 7 days, 24 hours). It opens with energising bergamot and clean (slightly metallic) aldehydes, followed by florals and sweet pea. I think of it as the perfume equivalent of a crisp, freshly laundered shirt. “The fragrances in Chloé’s exclusive-to-Selfridges Atelier des Fleurs collection are designed to be layered together, and I’m particularly fond of the floral, fresh Cedrus scent. It blends elegant jasmine and hibiscus flower alongside woody moss and vetiver – an earthy, grounding fragrance that reminds me of walking through a forest after rainfall. “New brand Nissaba harvests ingredients from renowned fragrance spots around the world (and gives back 5% of sales to the local communities who pick them). In this case, lavender from Provence. This fragrance takes you to a walk through a lavender field on a sunny day in France, running the tips of your fingers through the flowers. Alongside lavender, there are fresh green notes of clary sage and creamy, woody base notes. All that’s missing from my Provence fantasy is a glass of rosé.” – Laurie Field
