Thanks, it’s rented

HURR founder, Victoria Prew, on the 5 reasons why renting your wardrobe is the way forward

Clothing rental platform HURR has landed IRL at Selfridges Oxford Street, London. To breakdown exactly why renting your outfit is the fashionable way forward, and how this goes hand-in-hand with a more sustainable way to shop, we spoke with HURR founder Victoria Prew.

We’ve heard renting your wardrobe is the next big thing. What does HURR do?

“HURR is a bit different to a traditional rental company. We’re peer-to-peer, so our model is akin to an Airbnb model in which we connect lenders and renters. On the one hand, people can actually monetise their wardrobes, and on the other, you can rent from other peoples’ wardrobes for a fraction of the retail price!”

What are the quick wins when it comes to renting a dress for a fancy night out, rather than buying a new one?

“It’s a way to change-up your style. It’s also a great chance to experiment with different brands – if you haven’t tried a brand before, perhaps you’ve seen it on Instagram, but haven’t actually bought into it yet, why not rent it first?”

Extending the lifespan of clothes that already exist is one of the best things you can do to reduce the environmental impact of your wardrobe.

Why does clothing rental go hand-in-hand with a more sustainable lifestyle?

“Extending the lifespan of clothes that already exist is one of the best things you can do to reduce the environmental impact of your wardrobe. I’m a big believer that the future of fashion must be circular – and renting is the perfect way to access incredible pieces without actually having to buy them.”

Why is Selfridges the perfect fit for a HURR pop-up?

“Selfridges for us has just always been one step ahead of the curve in terms of new trends – renting being one of them. Sustainability has been at the forefront of Selfridges’ focus from the very beginning and for us that’s really important as a company with sustainability at its core!”

So, where we can we find you?

A. “We are here at the HURR boutique pop-up in Selfridges Oxford Street for the next six months on the third floor of Womenswear so come and check us out – we’d love to meet you!”
