Welcome to the Barbie Dreamhouse

17–29 July 2023
at Selfridges London.

She’s 64 years old, 29cm tall, has over 250 careers and her favourite colour is pink. Since Barbie stepped onto the scene in 1959 and became an instant icon, she’s been beloved for her endless outfits and optimistic attitude. To coincide with the release of the Barbie film, showing in The Cinema at Selfridges from 21 July, we invited the world’s most famous doll to bring her Dreamhouse to life in The Corner Shop. There, you’ll find film-set scenes from Barbie’s world, including her dressing room, lounge, beauty salon and playroom (more on these below). And you can dress up as Ken and Barbie and share a photo with her car – a replica pink Corvette.

Barbie’s beauty salon

In The Corner Shop, you’ll find a dedicated pampering space where you can book Barbie-inspired treatments and shop from her beauty shelves. On make-up duty we have a team from Lisa Eldridge Beauty (Eldridge was the make-up artist who created Dua Lipa’s look for her Dance The Night music video, featured on the Barbie film’s soundtrack.) So you can look your Barbie best from top to tiptoe, you can also book manicures by Manucurist and hairstyling by Gisou, and shop personalised Emi Jay hair accessories.

Inside Barbie’s wardrobe

Play dress up at The Corner Shop with our shoppable and rental edits. Rent looks inspired by Barbie’s iconic outfits, including ‘Dream CEO Barbie’ and ‘Dream Fairytale Barbie’. The space also includes an edit of secondhand pink RESELFRIDGES bags, and the same model of Impala x Barbie rollerblades that on-screen Barbie and Ken wear on Venice Beach. Our buyers have also curated an edit of Barbie-themed designer fashion, shoes, homeware, activewear and accessories. You’ll also find a menswear edit for Ken and, of course, plenty of Barbie dolls.

Watch the film

You’ve rented your Barbie outfit, you’ve had your hair and make-up done, now it’s time to see the film. To celebrate its release on 21 July, our cinema has had a Barbie makeover, with pink tickets, cocktails and popcorn. And until 30 July, Selfridges Unlocked Keyholders can show their Key and Selfridges cinema ticket for complimentary candy floss to enjoy while you watch.

Even more Barbie at Selfridges

At our Oxford Street entrance, we have costumes from the film on display, and in the Toyshop on 4 there’s a Barbie pop-up featuring a miniature version of the Dreamhouse. We’ll also have pop-ups in the Toyshops at our Manchester Trafford and Birmingham stores, where you’ll find a selfie moment and dolls based on characters and costumes from the film.

Visit Barbie at The Corner Shop from 17 to 29 July 2023, and watch the film at our cinema from 21 July to 3 August.
